Nadine has spent 2 years in jail for something she did not do. Bella has spent ten years in retail hell because she couldnt believe in herself. The characters are trapped is a system that sets people up to fail. Quinn Ivins has done it again with her 2nd book that was just too good to put down. The Love Factor gave us a look at politics from the higher learning part of the story. In this book we see ideology get squashed by the powerful from the ragged world of minimum wage and employer discrimination. It was so powerful to see Nadine come in doing everything in spite of the bitterly awful way she was treated having served her time in prison. Her strength to take what people were dumping was inspiring. Bella came in with human decency and kindness. Her talent and smarts overlooked because of her job. The collision course their lives were on was just the sweetest story. I wish I could say some of these experiences were just fiction but it felt real all too often. Two women who learned to respect themselves is always a good read. The dialogue was real that brought prejudices, hateful action and some of the complex emotions out. I really loved the store interactions and the felt so strongly about the struggles Nadine had re-entering life from prison. This author tells such a good story for her characters you are drawn to them deeply. The plot twists and strong emotions bring even more to this fictional look at life. I loved it. Nadine and Bella were perfect for each other. Opposites attract. This story has some reality to it and was very well written. It took Nadine some "hard knocks" to realize that the truth really does set you free. Bella saw the good in Nadine from the beginning. It was a joyful ride reading how they both came to realize what they could accomplish. I think the main message here is truth and trust. What good is one without the other? The book was very well edited and I really couldn't put it down. Very interesting story concept. Quinn Ivins has now established herself as a serious and superb author and after only 2 books. I'll read anything she writes in the future.
